Off the Shelf

The library's bimonthly newsletter Off the Shelf, provides information about programs scheduled in the library. It is mailed to all Wilmette and Kenilworth residents and businesses. Additional copies are available throughout the library.

Programs

Lectures, workshops, readings, travelogues, discussion groups, artist receptions and recitals are offered throughout the year. Program subjects include art and literature, health, employment, business and finance, current affairs, and science. Most programs are open to the public, free and require no advance registration. Check Off the Shelf, publicity flyers and the WPL events page on the web.

Services for Special Needs

The Wilmette Public Library District offers many materials and services for our visually impaired, physically disabled and homebound patrons. Please browse through the list of services for more information about accessibility options. If you have any further questions please call the library Information Desk at 847-256-5025, or our TDD number for the hearing impaired at 847-256-6931.

Outreach Services

Visits to local senior centers, retirement and nursing homes for the purpose of giving book talks, supplying deposit collections on a rotating basis, etc. can be arranged by calling Community Services at 847-256-6925.

The Wilmette Public Library will arrange for delivery and return of materials for Wilmette or Kenilworth residents who cannot visit the library due to illness or accident. Contact Mary Donnelly, Coordinator of Home Delivery, 847-256-6947, for arrangements.

Meeting Rooms

The Auditorium, which seats 80-100 people, is used for exhibits, artist and author receptions, lectures, film and slide presentations, concerts and other library programming. It may be scheduled for use during library hours. The Small Meeting/Conference Room, which seats twelve people comfortably around a large conference table, may also be reserved. Please call Community Services at 847-256-6925 for required advance reservations and rental fees. It is often necessary to reserve a meeting room 60-90 days in advance.
