  • Fun with Science!

    Talk, sing, read, write, and play your way to science fun as you learn how to engage your youngster in scientific inquiry through hands-on activities. For ages 3 to 6 with an adult. No registration required.

    We're opening our closets and emptying our drawers so that you can come on by and make cool crafts with recycled materials. You never know what you'll find, but it's sure to be fun! For all ages.

    Enjoy snacks, activities, and discussion about Athena the Brain, by Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams. Copies of the books will be available for checkout at the Youth Services Desk.   • Ants in Your Pants? Let's Dance!

    Shake, shimmy, and dance at our preschool dance party featuring bubbles, tunes, and more. It'll be a rockin' great time! Pretzels and water will be served. Ages 3-6. Siblings welcome.

  • Youth Chess Drop-In

    When: Sunday, November 09, 2014 - 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Want to play chess with other kids who love the game? Drop by for informal, fun competition supervised by parent volunteers. Bring chess sets and pieces, if possible. All levels of players are welcome, but prior knowledge of the pieces and how they move is helpful. Space is limited to the first 24 players to arrive.

  • Rangers in Training: Prehistoric Illinois (Gr. 3-4)

    When: Monday, November 10, 2014 - 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    What was Wilmette like thousands of years ago? Learn about the long-ago people and animals of Illinois through artifacts and fossils, and make a craft to take home. For grades 3-4. Sign-up starts 10/27 for Wilmette and Kenilworth residents, 11/3 for nonresidents.

  • Kids' Library Council

    Do you love the Library? Do you have lots of ideas to make it even better? Join us for a meeting of our Kids' Library Council to do fun activities and plan library spaces and programs for kids in 5th to 8th grades. Plus, make e-books that will be posted on the library's website. For grades 5-8. Registration starts October 27 for Wilmette and Kenilworth residents; November 3 for nonresidents.

  • K-9 Reading Buddies of the North Shore

    When: Wednesday, November 12, 2014 - 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
    Where: Youth Department

    Sign up for a 15-minute slot to read some of your favorite stories to a trained therapy dog. For grades 1-5, Wilmette and Kenilworth residents only. K-9 Reading Buddies of the North Shore is a Therapy Dogs International Children Reading to Dogs Program. Registration starts October 29.

    Take the very first steps towards learning computer programming by trying out this new iPad app, a version of the digital media design program Scratch created for younger kids. We'll make games and animations. For grades 1-3. Registration starts November 10 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents; November 17 for nonresidents.

  • Balloon Animal Workshop (Gr. 2-4)

    The Muppets gang heads out on a global tour, where they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper. Rated PG. At this sensory-friendly showing, there will be more light and lower volume, but just as much fun! To accommodate children with food allergies, no snacks will be served.
