  • Mother-Daughter Book Club

    Enjoy snacks, activities, and discussion about Please Write in This Book, by Mary Amato. Copies of the books will be available for checkout at the Youth Services Desk. Grades 3-4 with an adult. Registration starts September 7 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, September 14 for nonresidents.
  • Halloween Window Decorations
    When: Friday, September 30, 2016 - 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Design and cut Halloween decorations for your windows or walls. Using our vinyl cutter and special software, you'll make cobwebs, jack o'lanterns, or ghosts to stick wherever scaring is required. Grades 5-8. Registration starts September 16 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, September 19 for nonresidents.

  • Lego Club

    Your imagination is the limit as you build alone or with a friend at this fun monthly club. Grades K-4. Registration starts September 21 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, September 28 for nonresidents.
  • K-9 Reading Buddies of the North Shore
    When: Wednesday, October 05, 2016 - 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
    Where: Youth Department

    Sign up for a 15-minute slot to read some of your favorite stories to a trained therapy dog. Wilmette and Kenilworth residents only, grades 1-5. K-9 Reading Buddies of the North Shore is a Therapy Dogs International Children Reading to Dogs Program. Sign-up starts September 21.
  • Royal Tea

    Hark! Don your royal garb and join us for majestic stories, a regal snack, and a magnificent craft. Grades K-2. Registration starts September 22 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, September 29 for nonresidents.
  • Youth Chess Drop-In
    When: Sunday, October 09, 2016 - 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Want to play chess with other kids who love the game? Drop by for informal, fun competition supervised by parent volunteers. Bring chess sets and pieces, if possible. All levels of players are welcome, but prior knowledge of the pieces and how they move is helpful. Space is limited to the first 24 players to arrive.
  • Kids' Library Council
    When: Monday, October 10, 2016 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

    Do you love the Library? Do you have lots of ideas to make it even better? Join us for a meeting of our Kids' Library Council to do fun activities and plan library spaces and programs for kids in 5th to 8th grades. This month, make stop-motion animation and time-lapse videos using the recently remodeled library's new toys and installations. Grades 5-8. Registration starts September 26 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, October 3 for nonresidents.
  • STEAM Lab: Mazes (Gr. K-2)

    Get your imagination geared up! Use boxes, paper, sticks, and more to create a fun and challenging maze. Grades K-2. Registration starts September 29 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, October 6 for nonresidents.
  • Family PlayLab: Monsters!
    When: Saturday, October 15, 2016 - 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Join us for a fun and interactive monthly experience that is suitable for the whole family. This month, become Dr. Frankenstein and build your own monster, learn about some real ones, and play "Feed the Beast." All ages.

  • Halloween Makeup
    When: Monday, October 24, 2016 - 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Make your Halloween costume fabulously scary with makeup! Learn to apply Halloween makeup—both gory and gorgeous—with professional makeup artist Allison Halver. She'll demonstrate how to make wounds and prosthetic applications and offer tips on how to apply Halloween makeup on your own. Participants will be able to try on some of the makeup. Please note that we will be working with latex. Grades 5-8. Registration starts October 10 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, October 17 for nonresidents.

  • All Ages Movie Poster Contest and Exhibit
    When: Saturday, March 04, 2017 - All Day
    Where: Vestibule

    Fun Guaranteed...For REEL! Visit the Library today from 9am-4:15 pm to view an exciting, vibrant display on the Library's first floor of full size movie posters of popular films. Participate in a short, but fun matching activity - match several descriptions correctly to movie posters displayed at the Library for a chance to be the LUCKY WINNER of a $30.00 gift card supplied by the presenter!
