Early Childhood Programs

Storytimes last between 25 and 30 minutes. Participants enjoy songs and activities in addition to stories. This is a great opportunity for young children to hear good stories, learn, and have fun.

Please note: Advance registration is not necessary. All children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Summer Session: June 13—July 28

Babytime (Ages 0-24 months): Thursdays at 9:30. Songs, rhymes, tickles, and bounces. Followed by a 30-minute playtime.

Rhymetime (Ages 18 months and up): Fridays at 9:30 and 10:30. Fast-paced stories, rhymes, songs, and more.

Preschool Storytime (Ages 3 and up): Tuesdays at 10:30. Longer books, songs, and movement for children who enjoy a good story.

  • Stories in Vattmann Park
    When: Monday, July 31, 2017 - 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM
    Where: Vattmann Park

    Families are invited for stories and songs with Wilmette librarians. Please gather near the tennis courts. In case of rain or extreme heat, storytimes will take place at the Library. If in doubt, please call 847-256-6945. Cosponsored by the Wilmette Public Library and the Wilmette Park District.
  • Drop-In Baby Playtime
    When: Thursday, August 10, 2017 - 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    What do you do when Babytime is on vacation, but your babies are raring to go? Stop by for baby playtime and adult conversation. Ages 0-24 months with an adult. Siblings welcome.
  • Stories at the Village Green
    When: Monday, August 14, 2017 - 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM
    Where: Off-site

    Families are invited for stories and songs with Wilmette librarians. Please gather on the Village Green in front of Village Hall (1200 Wilmette Ave.). In case of rain or extreme heat, storytimes will take place at the Library. If in doubt, please call 847-256-6945. Cosponsored by the Wilmette Public Library and the Village of Wilmette.
  • Totally Untidy Toddlers
    When: Wednesday, August 30, 2017 - 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Dress for mess; this sensory playtime will be loads of fun, but it won’t be neat! Ages 1-3 with an adult. Siblings welcome.
