    Come build and play in a huge cardboard creation. Building ends at 10:45, but the creation will remain in the Youth Program Room until 3:00 for play and exploration. All ages.

    Create stories, poems, and comics for the Youth Literary Magazine. Kids must attend at least two meetings. Grades 4-6. Registration starts May 30 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, June 5 for nonresidents.
  • Developing a Sixth Census: Finding More in “the Census” Than Meets the Eye
    When: Monday, June 26, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:15 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Learn how to squeeze as much as possible from census data. We will look at the information found in the Federal population schedules in specific census years including critical years for finding all important data and will also explore some census “miracles” and stumbling blocks. Important questions will be answered, such as- why the timing of the census enumerations was important and how you can use that information, why neighbors are important for understanding your ancestors, how the information in the census got there and why that matters. There will be examples of state censuses, pre-1790 censuses, and Canadian censuses too. Presented by genealogist Dan Hubbard.

    Help some of your favorite stories come alive by acting them out! Together, we will read a fairy tale, folktale, or other popular story. Then we will act the story out, using dialogue, movement and props. Grades K-3. Registration starts June 13 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, June 20 for nonresidents.
  • Writers Group

    This group meets weekly and offers peer reviews of submitted works within a supportive environment. Facilitator Julie Johnson coordinates the group. Newcomers welcome.
  • Mini Masterpieces: A Drawing Workshop
    When: Tuesday, June 27, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Anyone can learn to draw, or improve their drawing skills. In this class, art teacher Christine Thornton will teach you some "tricks" artists use when they draw. You'll choose from dozens of famous art reproductions to copy and create your own small scale "Mini Masterpiece" in colored pencil. Adults and teens welcome; registration required.
