Building Closed to the Public Until Further Notice

The Wilmette Public Library building is currently closed to the public. The library is taking this action with the guidance of the Illinois Department of Public Health and other agencies. The closure is intended to help slow the spread of the virus and keep our community and staff safe and healthy. Staff are currently working toward safely reopening the building for browsing and computer use, with a target reopening date of February 15. To find the latest information on reopening plans, visit our site, or sign up to receive email updates from the library.

While the building is closed, we will continue to offer a variety of ways to take advantage of our collections and services.

Parking Lot Pickup Remains Available

While the building is closed, you can still borrow items from our physical collection. Place holds on our materials in our catalog. When your hold notice arrives, follow the link in the email to make an appointment to pick up your items via Parking Lot Pickup. At the appointed time, park in a designated spot in the Library parking lot and follow the posted directions. Your items will be brought out to your car!

You can also reserve items on the phone with our librarians, who will help you make a Parking Lot Pickup appointment at that time.

If you currently have held items ready to pick up that you now need to retrieve via Parking Lot Pickup, you can make an appointment here.

We know that browsing is an important part of the library experience for many of you. Our librarians will still be working, and available by phone, email, or chat during our normal open hours to help you find your next favorite book. You can also fill out our book picks form for custom reading list for all ages.
