Join a summer reading club, and enjoy good books and fabulous prizes.

Adult Club

Between May 28 and August 31, visit the Recent Arrivals Desk for your sign-up gift and reading log for your completed books. Read or listen to any six books, and as a completion prize you’ll get to select a book from a variety of new and popular titles to take home and keep.

Galaxy Pets: An Outer Space Painting Workshop

Monday, July 15, 7 pm

Beginners are welcome for this modern twist on a classic silhouette portrait. Draw freehand or use one of the provided printouts. You’ll transfer an outline to watercolor paper, then learn how to paint a galaxy pattern inside of your outline. Participants may bring pictures of their own animals, but must be enlarged to 8.5 x 11. Open to teens and adults; Registration required..

Mike at the Movies Presents: Sci-Fi

Wednesday, July 31, 7 pm

In this special Summer Reading Club edition of Mike at the Movies, Film director and historian Michael Smith will take us on a visual journey through the universe of all that is science fiction, from the very first through current day.

Teen Club

Starting May 28 and ending August 31, pick up your reading log and sign up gift at the Recent Arrivals Desk. You can get started right away! Read 10 hours before the end of summer to receive a free book of your choosing. You can read anything for this club; books, comics, magazines, online articles, fanfiction, and even audiobooks count.

Galaxy Alcohol Ink Jewelry

Wednesday, July 10, 3-4 pm in the Teen Room

Make a necklace, bracelet, or keychain with some galaxy-themed alcohol inks and metal washers. Registration required.

Geek Dishes

Wednesday, August 14, 3-4:30 pm in the Teen Room

Whether you use them for display or for eating, make a plate personalized for your favorite fandom. Who says your school or dorm room dishes have to be boring? Registration required.

Kids' Club

Get ready to explore new worlds with your friends at the library! Pre-readers and independent readers through grade 9 can pick up a reading log in the Youth Department between Tuesday, May 28, and Wednesday, July 31. Visiting our cosmic reporting station to show us how many days you have read (or been read to), tell us about your favorite books, add to our stellar mural, and earn free books to keep!

Family Summer Reading Celebrations

Kick Off Party featuring ScribbleMonster

Saturday, June 15, our Summer Reading Club will blast off with concerts and fun activities for the whole family! 

  • 10:00-12:00 - Sign up for Summer Reading and join us for some spacey fun in the Youth Services Department. 
  • 11 or 1:30 - Enjoy a concert with ScribbleMonster in the Auditorium. Free tickets are required for the concerts and will be available in the Youth Services Department starting the morning of the program on a first come, first served basis. Limit 8 tickets per family. (Sensory Friendly Performance: 12:30-1:00. Registration beings June 1st.)

Finishing Party featuring Ralph's World

Thursday, August 1, 7:00–7:45. Library Lawn. Rain location: Auditorium. For the whole family. Grammy nominated Ralph Covert and his band will entertain parents and kids alike with family-friendly rock and roll! You’ll sing, dance, and laugh all the way home. You are invited to bring a picnic dinner to the lawn starting at 6:00; the show starts at 7:00. Free Homer’s ice cream will be served 6:00–6:45.
