Wilmette Public Library is seeking a creative, proactive, enthusiastic, and innovative Information Technology manager to join our team. This role is responsible for overseeing the overall information technology infrastructure for the library, including coordinating the support of our contracted Local Area Network management contract; planning, implementing, inventorying, and troubleshooting technology assets; providing staff with technology literacy instruction and assistance; and helping to create new and innovative ways to use technology in in support of library operations. As part of the library's leadership team, the IT manager will promote the library's mission and vision and work across departments to help build and support a strong and equitable community.

Core Essential Functions:

  • Manage overall operations of the IT department: set team direction and department objectives in alignment with Library’s strategic goals. Set departmental goals and duties, review and modify departmental practices and procedures, with guidance from Director, to ensure that services meet the needs of the library.
  • Proactively seek out, recommend, and implement improvements and innovations in the areas of operational technology and associated training.
  • Provide relevant training to current staff and new hires, and provide constructive feedback and career development support to staff as needed. Conduct regular performance appraisals. Work with Human Resources on any performance improvement plans or corrective action measures as appropriate.
  • Manage department budget and ensure that expenses stay within the framework of the approved budget in support of the overall fiscal goals of the library.
  • As a member of the leadership team, attend all relevant meetings and serve as a liaison with all departments to support inter-departmental projects and tasks. Ensure that staff is appropriately updated on relevant information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technology or information field of study required.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible current experience in information systems and telephony management, including an in-depth knowledge of personal computer networking, LAN, WAN, and network operation; working knowledge of network infrastructure administration (switches, routers, etc.), word-processing, spreadsheet, database, monitoring and reporting software, Internet, email, and operating systems.
  • Schedule includes daytime hours, with occasional weekends and evenings.
  • The salary range for this position is $58,000 to $87,000, depending on qualifications.


Classification:

This is a full-time, exempt position scheduled for 37.5 hours per week. This position is eligible for both paid time-off, IMRF participation, as well as a generous healthcare package including medical, dental, and vision.
