In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly designated April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day as a means to affirm and promote the realization of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for autistic people.

For the fourth consecutive year, Wilmette Public Library has been awarded Five Stars in Library Journal’s annual evaluation of public libraries.
Four seats on the seven-member Wilmette Public Library District Board of Trustees will be open for the Tuesday, April 4, 2023 consolidated election. All of the seats will be for a full four-year term expiring in April 2027.
The Wilmette Public Library Board of Trustees appointed Renee Cox to fill a vacancy on the board at their Tuesday, October 18 meeting.
The Wilmette Public Library District Board of Trustees is currently accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the board. This vacancy opportunity is to fill an unexpired term through the next election in April 2023.
This spring, library leadership began a strategic planning process to help guide the library for the next three to five years. At the end of April, we surveyed the community to learn how you use the library and what you’d like to see from the library, and our community, in the future.
