  • Evening Readers Book Discussion

    Join us to discuss Colum McCann's latest novella, Thirteen Ways of Looking. An aged judge of failing body but nimble mind is assaulted on the street after having dinner with his boorish son. In a unique and surprising story, McCann compares the detectives' investigation of the crime with literary critics interpreting a poem.

    This program is the last title in the Library's three-part book discussion series, Revisiting Our Winners: New Books by One Book Authors.

  • Aviva Trio in Concert

    Mark your calendar for the stunning Aviva Trio. Violinist Linda Veleckis has performed as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician throughout the United States and Europe. Cellist Emily Lewis Mantell is currently principal cellist with the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and is a member of the Chicago Sinfonietta. She has also held principal positions with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra, and the Bolshoi Ballet. Collaborative Pianist Paul Dykstra strives to showcase the music of composers lost to us due to the Holocaust. His collaborative piano repertory includes most major works for both four hands piano duet and duo, as well as the piano trio, piano quartet and piano quintet libraries.
