Prince Among Slaves (documentary) - 60 minutes

Movie screening - In 1788, Abdul-Rahman arrived as a slave on a ship out of West Africa; he was also a prince. During his enslavement he toiled on the Foster plantation, married, and fathered nine children. His story also eventually made him the most famous African in America at the time, attracting the support of powerful men such as President John Quincy Adams. See this powerful reenactment of his life and times. -

Spanish Language Storytime

Join Language Stars instructors for a fun, interactive, fully immersive storytime in Spanish. Ages 3-10. All children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Registration starts two weeks in advance for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents and one week in advance for nonresidents. -
Armchair Travels

T-Shirt Screen Printing

Story Explorers Literary Magazine

Explore our world, and create new ones, through stories, poems, and more! All participants may contribute their work to the annual literary magazine. Attendance at all three meetings (June 20, June 27, and July 11) is encouraged but not mandatory. Grades 4-9. Registration begins June 6 for Wilmette and Kenilworth residents and June 13 for nonresidents. Funded by the Friends of the Wilmette Public Library. -
Book Buddies
When: Thursday, June 20, 2013 - 7:00 PM - 7:45 PM
Where: Youth Program Room
Older children pair up with younger ones to share books, crafts, and fun. Older buddies should be entering grades 6 and up; younger buddies should be ages 4 to 7. All buddies must sign up each week. Registration begins each Monday morning at 9 a.m. and continues until that week's program is full. -
Caregivers of Children with Mental Illness Support Group

Where: Small Meeting Room
Meetings of a support group for caregivers of children with mental illnesses, diagnosed or undiagnosed, take place in the Small Meeting Room from 9:30-11:00. Bryan Bowers Headlines Friday Night Folk Music

Family Origami Workshop

Alzheimer's Support Group

Families who have a loved-one with Alzheimer's disease are invited to attend support group meetings. Mike Denesha, the group's facilitator, is a Wilmette resident who holds a Master's degree in family caregiving. Newcomers are always welcome. -

This week, travel the continent of Africa through stories, drums, and traditional mask making. Grades K-3. Registration starts June 11 for Wilmette and Kenilworth residents and June 18 for nonresidents.
