Working primarily in our Technology Center, we are looking for a personable individual to assist patrons with library technology, setting up technology equipment in library meeting spaces and teaching MS office and emerging technology classes. This individual should be proficient with computer hardware and software and enjoy helping others. The position requires good organizational and communication skills and the flexibility and training to move from task to task in a team environment. 

Essential duties

  • Assist patrons accessing/using library computers, printers, scanners, microfilm readers, copiers, and other equipment.
  • Assist patrons using digital library services, such as borrowing e-books or streaming a movie
  • Assist patrons using web based e-mail services.
  • Conduct patron-training classes about using MS Office, digital library services, or consumer technology.
  • Conduct basic network and equipment maintenance.
  • Conduct set up of technology equipment for library programs and events.

Additional duties

  • Assist patrons with Maker technology and equipment.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required. Some college or post HS study desirable.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in working with the public and co-workers, with a demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment. 
  • Prior customer service experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting MS Windows, MS Office, Android, MAC OS, and iOS.

Hours – 15 to 19 hours per week. Weekly schedule includes:

  • Weekend rotation:
    • Saturdays 8:45am – 5:00pm
    • Sundays11:45am – 5:00pm
  • Must be able to work 2-3 evening shifts.
    • Evening shifts 5:00pm – 9:00pm

Salary

  • Minimum Starting Hourly Rate - $14.33 DOQ
