Hone Your Shutterbug Skills

Let's face it, travel has been lacking in many of our lives the past couple years.  But with hope, maybe we can dust off the suitcases and dig out the digital camera soon in preparation for a long overdue adventure. If you haven't used your camera in a while, maybe it's time for a refresher course. Did you know that Wilmette Public Library offers free digital camera courses through the online database Gale Courses? Gale Courses can be found on our website under Online Resources, or you can directly access a list of their digital camera courses here. 

The courses are interactive and instructor-led, and range from beginner lessons to perfecting your skills, from photographing people, nature and places to the elements of photoshop. All you need is your library card to register. You will receive two lessons a week for six weeks. A syllabus is provided so you can see how the course progresses.

I just received my first and second lesson on "The Secrets of Better Photography". Already I am more confident in using my camera. Now to book that much-needed vacation or maybe just take a walk in the woods to hone my photography skills. And have fun!
