Meet Your Library Welcome Visits
Schedule a staff-led tour to learn about library programs and resources that are just right for you and your family. Group visits are also available and may include behind-the-scenes demonstrations, sensory activities, and storytimes that can be tailored to meet accessibility needs and interests. Call 847.256.6939 for more information.
Accessibility at the Library
Wilmette Public Library offers many materials and services for patrons with disabilities and homebound patrons. Sensory tools and noise cancelling headphones are available for use in the library, and we use visual schedules for storytimes and many youth programs. For a full list of offerings, visit our Accessibility page.
Discover Books in Accessible Formats
Alternative literacy formats support readers at every level and learning style. We have a large collection of large print, audio, and hybrid audio/print books. Playaways are pre-loaded audiobook players about the size of a cassette tape. All you need is headphones - no Internet involved! Readalongs are print books with built-in audio players. You can also download or stream hundreds of ebooks and audiobooks through Hoopla and Libby. Just download the apps and enter your library card!
